Air Photo of Nelson

Nelson has one of the most scenic small town airports. A little bit of a tight approach makes it suitable for smaller aircraft. This photo is taken from the cockpit of High Terrain Helicopters on the way back from a trip into the Ymir Yurts.
The Orange bridge in the foreground links Nelson to the North Shore and Hwy 3A to Balfour and the Kootenay Lake Ferry. The bridge spans the West Arm of Kootenay Lake or the Kootenay River. Pulpit Rock and Elephant mountain trail leads up the ridge on the right of the photo. Great views and even better extreme mountain biking trails lead from the clearcuts at the top of the photo.
